Saudi nationals wishing to marry in Italy by civil ceremony must produce the following documentation by appointment. As your local consultant in Italy, we can request these documents in person on your behalf with a signed power of attorney, allowing us to act in your interest without you bearing the stress of traveling to Italy twice.
The first document needed is the legal recognition to contract marriage issued by the Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia.
This document is not a Consular act and, therefore, must be issued in Saudi Arabia and must be requested by the Saudi bride or groom.
You will also need to request a certificate issued by the town hall registrar where you have your formal residency in Saudi Arabia, attesting to your free marital status.
You will, of course, need a valid passport.
Should the Saudi citizen wish to contract marriage with a non-Saudi Arabian citizen, the Saudi Arabian Consulate may request additional documents, such as a Criminal Record Certificate, a health certificate, and a certificate attesting to the free marital status of the non-Saudi Arabian partner. In some cases, a court decision may also be required to validate certain aspects of the marriage process, depending on the individual circumstances of the couple.
Once the Saudi Arabian Consulate has received all the documents couriered by you to us, they will issue the Nulla Ostawithin a few days.
We will withdraw the Nulla Osta so that we can proceed with its legalization, allowing it to enter the Italian legal system and be accepted by the town hall where you intend to get married.
The town hall where you plan to get married in Italy as a Saudi Arabian citizen will accept our request on your behalf and will require nothing more than a soft copy of your passport.
At this point, we will book an appointment at the town hall, where you will declare, one or two days before the wedding, the absence of kinship, affinity, adoption, or affiliation between you and your partner under Article 87, numbers 1, 2, and 4 of the Civil Code, and confirm that there are no other impediments according to Articles 85, 86, and 88 of the same code.
This declaration must be made in the presence of an interpreter.
Generally, one or two days before the ceremony, the civil wedding can take place in the presence of two witnesses, the interpreter, and the Mayor of the town.
At this point, you will be officially married in Italy.
